My name is Asmaa Kanan, and I am the founder of Ma3lish. I am a Palestinian girl from the small village of Nilin. My mission is to be a voice for those who cannot speak out against their oppression. I created Ma3lish not just as a brand but as a movement—one that tells stories of resilience, the unbreakable human spirit of the people of Falasteen through clothing. I came up with the project of a Ma3lish in October of 2024. When hearing the story of Palestinian journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh, it struck an idea in my head. Wael al-Dahdouh, Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Gaza, suffered immense tragedy during this ongoing genocide, losing his wife, children, and grandson in an Israeli airstrike, later also losing his journalist son, Hamza, yet continued reporting amid the devastation. He didn't give up or stop doing his job, but instead he did the most he could in his power to make an impact. He is my motivation to keep going no matter what. I am going to do the most I can to make a difference. Al-Dahdouh isn't the only one who faced terrible atrocities, but he carries the voice of millions of Palestinians.
At its core, Ma3lish carries one message: keep moving forward, no matter what you face. Life is full of challenges, but perseverance is what defines us. The people of Gaza have endured the unimaginable, every war crime you can name, they have lived through it. Yet, their resilience is not just a testament to survival but a call to action. There is no excuse for us to give up. There is no excuse to sit and let the world flow by and not make changes on this earth. There is no excuse to stop fighting for the liberation of Palestine. Let the people of Gaza be your inspiration. We fight for them, but they are the ones who lift our heads and remind us that, despite it all, it's okay. Ma3lish. What's your excuse?
